Plan parking, meals, and the trip from Rapid City

Choose your first stop before heading to Deadwood. The Historic Franklin is on Main Street, while Deadwood Mountain Grand, The Lodge, and Deadwood Gulch each have their own locations. Save your event addresses, leave time for parking, and choose a meeting spot if your group plans to split up.

Make dinner part of the evening before the music or costume judging begins. Reserve a table if you have a restaurant in mind, wear shoes you can walk in, and bring a warm layer for the trip between venues. A little planning leaves more time to enjoy the costumes and celebrations.

Deadwood is a separate outing from Rapid City, so arrange your ride back to Canyon Lake Resort in advance. If you plan to drink, choose a designated driver or confirm a transportation service that covers your full return trip. Check the forecast before leaving and allow extra travel time when conditions call for it.
